The OnePlus Ace has a 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display that offers 120Hz, HDR10+, and has a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels. The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max (5 nm) Mobile Platform with Mali-G610 MC6 and supports 5G. OnePlus 10R has a 50MP OIS rear camera, 8 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 120˚ (ultrawide) camera, 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) camera, and a 16MP front-facing camera. The phone is available in Kenya in Sierra Black, and Forest Green colors.
Design
The OnePlus Ace 5G comes with a 6.7-inch 120Hz Fluid OLED screen with a center aligned punch hole design for the selfie camera. it has even bezels and a very narrow chin, with a screen to body ratio of 87.6%. It an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a glass Corning Gorilla 5 front panel. It is very bright and vivid, peaking at 950 nits. It’s rated IP53 for dust and water protection, so it surely is splash proof. Unfortunately, it loses the headphone jack. It has a fast under display fingerprint sensor. It does support stereo speakers, offering great sound when playing media.
Performance
The OnePlus Ace 5G brings in the heat with latest flagship Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max, from the next generation range of Mediatek flagship 5G chips, making it very fast and excellent for gaming. It has a Octa-core 2.85Ghz CPU with storage options of 8/12 GB for RAM & 128/256/512 GB for ROM. It also has a dedicated expandable memory option. Paired with the smooth 90Hz AMOLED screen, running the latest Android 12 with OxygenOS 12.1 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. OxygenOS has been industry leading for years, having been the next closest OS to stock android after the Pixel skin. Everything feels fast, fluid and rich in colour.
Cameras
The OnePlus Ace 5G has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with an excellent 50MP primary sensor, with 12.5MP picture binning for those excellent daylight photos. There is also an extra 8MP ultra wide with a 120˚ FOV, for group and landscape photos, and an 2MP macro for close up pictures. The video can support upto 4K video @30/60fps and 1080p@30/60/120/240fps with auto-HDR supports & gyro-EIS plus OIS stability assistance. It has a selfie camera at a generous 16MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps with gyro-EIS. The selfies and videos are great and well exposed.
Other features
The OnePlus Ace 5G has an excellent 150W fast charging, which can charge the phone to 50% in 5mins. That in addition to the fact that it also comes with a huge Li-Po 4500mAh non-removable battery. Even with a high refresh rate screen power screen, this should be more than a days’ worth device. There is also wireless charging and wired reverse charging of unspecified wattage. It does support NFC for contactless paying.
